Weekend Warriors - The Ultimate Tabletop Skirmish Game To Play With Your Kids

Weekend Warriors is the ultimate tabletop skirmish game to play with your kids! It’s a fast-paced, action-packed tabletop skirmish game that is fun to prepare and play together. The rules are simple and quick to learn but provide enough depth to keep the bigger kids just as immersed and entertained! Learn the rules once and then apply them to any genre.

You can use any models to represent your warriors, from construction toys to paper drawings to your favourite plastic or metal miniatures. Then all you need is a measuring tape, gauge or ruler, some six-sided dice, and a keen imagination.

Set your game in any setting; Sci-fi, fantasy, historical, modern or zombie-infested apocalyptic wastelands; it's up to you. Tell your story your way as you develop adventures based on your interests. Weekend Warriors gives you a framework to build your stories around as you prepare and play your game.

As you take control of the narrative and choose which rules to use and which ones to leave out, it’s great for any age. But the game is perfect for children aged 7+ when all the rules are in play.

A big part of the game is choosing your band of warriors. This is where your imagination can be let loose as you create your Warband and equip them with the gear and skills they need to succeed in battle.

This book gives you everything you need to create epic adventures with your friends and family. So that leaves one question. Are you ready to accept your destiny and become a Weekend Warrior!?

Just picked it up in December but now I’m looking for ways to expand it from the quest and missions in the book? I can’t find anything out the book on here. Is there 3rd party products or anything like that?

Love this ruleset for introducing my friends into tabletop wargaming. Simple to learn and easy to set up! But we did notice that Light Armor and Heavy Armor essentially had the same probability of receiving damage at the cost of heavy armor only having 3 actions. So it felt like heavy armor was at a disadvantage.
Without changing any rules, we simply made every model’s reaction +4 regardless of armor. We found that this made the armor in combat more balanced in receiving damage and every armor class feeling unique.
Other than that, great rules to pick up and play!

May I ask if there are cooperative rules? I think my oldest would be fine beating on Dad, but even then, we prefer to tackle bosses together in video games rather than compete.

No pressure, just asking! Thank you very much!

After reading the rules, it seems that the armour rules are flawed
the chances to get damages in combat are the same (66.66% x 33.33% for heavy or light armour, & worst, 50%x50% for Medium armour). Despite the fact that medium get 4, & heavy armour 3, actions instead of 5? .
In addition, the "Knight' Role: you choose 2 close or range combat weapons, but for what benefit?
Finaly, no penalties for being outnumbered in Close Combat (Could happens if you play with 8+ models)
Am i right ( not so sure actually), or did i misread the rules (probably)?
Otherwise, number of actions, regarding armours & use of weapons and balancing warbands without a points system, are simple & clever game mechanics.

Hi Alain,

Thanks so much for purchasing the book.

Light and Heavy stats switch the chances of getting hit and taking damage.

Light = 33.3% chance to get hit then 66.6% chance to take damage
Medium = 50% chance to get hit then 50% chance to take damage
Heavy = 66.6% chance to get hit then 33.3% chance to take damage

Switching the Light/Heavy stats play into the idea that lighter armour makes the Warrior faster and with better reactions to move out of the way. The Heavy Armour would be better at absorbing the hits when they do get through. It's a subtle difference between getting hit and taking damage but it's fun to play. When you combine the Armour type with various skills, you can increase the odds in different ways. For example, you could improve the Armour Save of the Heavy Armour making it even tougher. but the Warrior would still be slow to react.

The Knight role is more of a narrative choice but it could have some benefits...See more

Assuming I understand the rules correctly, the math is actually slightly more complicated because of the fact that crits are automatic wounds. So everyone is going to take a wound 16.6% of the time. This makes the situation even worse for heavy armor.

Light Armor: 16.6% + (16.6% * 66.6%) = 27.5% chance to take damage
Medium Armor: 16.6% + (33.3% * 50%) = 33.3% chance to take damage
Heavy Armor: 16.6% +(50% * 33.3%) = 33.3% chance to take damage

So with light armor you take the least damage, get extra actions, and are better at searching. Also, whether you are wearing heavy armor or light armor if you increase your armor save by one you end up with the same level of mitigation, but if you increase your reaction by 1 then light armor pulls way ahead.

With +1 Armor Save
Light Armor: 16.6 + (16.6 * 50) =24.6
Heavy Armor: 16.6 + (50 * 16.6) = 24.6

With +1 Reaction
Light Armor: 16.6 = 16.6
Heavy Armor: 16.6 + (33.3 * 33.3) = 27.6...See more

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
